    Notice that this species is hardy enough to have survived the freezes and drought that killed much of the candelilla.


      Mammillaria meiacantha often gets confused with Mammillaia heyderi. They are easy to recognize and to differentiate if a person is familiar with both of them. Compare them for yourself below.
